POINT OF INTEREST

Rinku Park

1-271 Rinkuoraikita, Izumisano, Osaka, 598-0048

Across the bay from Kansai Airport, Rinku Park is a lovely waterfront park in the city of Izumisano. It’s a popular place to watch the sunset and see planes taking off and landing, and also offers a marble beach, seaside gardens, flower paths, a traditional arched wooden bridge, an inner sea area, and several sculptures.

The basics

Rinku Park’s proximity to Kansai Airport makes it easy to visit before or after a flight, though it’s particularly scenic at sunset, which is best admired from the wooden bridge. Watch the tides change at the Inner Sea, or stroll along the Marble Beach and seaside garden. Admire the different flowers on the Flower Path depending on the season. You can also track the path of the sun in different seasons at the Four Seasons Spring sculpture.

Things to know before you go

There’s no fee to access Rinku Park. Amenities include restrooms (including wheelchair-accessible restrooms), an information center, shops, and a designated area for barbecuing. There are no trash cans, so you must take all of your trash out of the park with you.

How to get there

Rinku Park is along the coast of Izumisano across the bay from Kansai Airport. The closest train station is Rinku Town on the JR Line. From the station, Rinku Park is only a 3-minute walk away. By car, take the Kansai Kuko Expressway or the Hanshin Expressway Bayshore Route. There’s parking at the park. Taxis are also an option.

When to get there

You can visit Rinku Park year-round. From spring to fall, a variety of perennials bloom on the flower beds that line the Flower Path. Visit at night to see the Four Seasons Spring illuminated by lights. Concerts and other events are held near Taiko Bridge throughout the year.

Where to track the path of the sun

The Four Seasons Spring is a sculpture with three large rings and a sphere in the center, which represents the Earth and the paths the sun takes during the summer solstice, spring and autumn equinox, and the winter solstice. The Taiko Bridge, Winter Solstice Grotto, and Summer Solstice Stairway also mark where the sun sets at different times of the year.
