Rojo Tango

Martha Salotti 445, Buenos Aires, The Pampas

With its intimate shows (only 100 seats, gourmet cuisine, and lavish surroundings, Rojo Tango is arguably the most luxurious venue to experience Argentina’s sultry dance—the tango—while in Buenos Aires. The venue, inside the Hotel Faena, enlists some of the nation’s best dancers, singers, and musicians for its tango performances.

The basics

Guests can attend the show or opt to couple it with a pre-show dinner, where you’ll dine in style in Hotel Faena’s dramatic red velvet and gold cabaret theater. The dazzling tango performances—which take you on a journey from the roots of tango to the modern-day—are equally impressive, including an extensive repertoire of jazz and classical tango by legendary Argentine composer Ástor Piazzolla. It’s a luxury experience from start to finish, with exquisite costumes, a tango quintet performing live, and a wine list featuring top quality Malbecs and choice vintage wines.

Things to know before you go

  • Book a show with included hotel pickup and drop-off for a hassle-free night out.
  • Tango shows last approximately 1.5 hours, while dinner shows take just over 2-hours.
  • The dress code at Rojo Tango tends to be formal (such as a jacket and tie, or dress).

How to get there

Rojo Tango is inside the Hotel Faena in the Puerto Madero district of Buenos Aires. The nearest metro stop is Plaza de Mayo, a short walk across the Rio Darsena Sur. Many dinner show packages include round-trip transportation.

When to get there

The show is staged once per evening, with dinner starting about 1.5 hours before the tango show. It’s a good idea to arrive early, so you’ll have enough time to take in the beautiful hotel grounds and find your seat. Shows often sell out, especially on weekends.

Best Tango Shows in Buenos Aires

Whether you’re a tango aficionado or looking to see your first show, Buenos Aires has a range of excellent tango performances and venues. For a more traditional tango show at one of the city’s most historic theaters, head to Tango Porteño. Señor Tango often attracts some of the best talent—as well as a stage that can be seen from all sides, while La Ventana puts on a show that includes tango and other forms of Argentine folk music—perfect for those looking for an introduction to the nation’s performing arts.
