Sapphire Beach
Smith Bay, St Thomas, St. Thomas, 00802
Located on the eastern end of St. Thomas, Sapphire Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the island. Featuring stellar views and a long stretch of pretty white sand, it’s an ideal beach for relaxing and sunbathing, snorkeling, and a variety of water sports. Numerous amenities and rentals make for an easy and enjoyable day out.
The basics
Enjoy a range of outdoor activities at Sapphire Beach, such as swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing, parasailing, and jet skiing. The reefs on both sides of the beach are teeming with tropical fish and coral formations. Less active visitors can sunbathe or relax in the shade from the sea grape trees on the right side of the beach while enjoying great views of St. John, Tortola, and Jost Van Dyke islands in the distance. Refuel with a bite or a drink from the beach bar.
It’s easy to visit Sapphire Beach independently, or as part of a private sightseeing or boat charter. The beach is also popular with cruise ship visitors, who often visit as part of a shore excursion.Â
