Sea Garden

Located along much of Varna’s waterfront, east of the city center, the Sea Garden is a sprawling green space with something for everyone. Not only will visitors find promenades, fountains, and monuments here, but also a range of attractions, including the Varna Summer Theatre, the Museum of Natural History, playgrounds, and sports complexes.
The basics
A visit to the Sea Garden in Varna can go any number of ways, whether it’s a quick stroll through to Varna Beach, or a full day exploring. Some Varna walking tours include time at the park, but you’ll need to come to the Sea Garden independently if you’re hoping to visit any of its attractions.
The park is great for recreation and unwinding, thanks to its beaches, playgrounds, and wake park, but also showcases Varna’s culture with landmarks such as the Monument of Frontier Guard and the Astronomical Observatory and Planetarium Copernicus.
Things to know before you go
Restaurants and beach bars line much of the waterside edge.
The park has several public restrooms, including ones that are wheelchair-accessible.
There’s plenty to keep children entertained, including an amusement park, Varna Aquarium & Black Sea Museum, and Varna Zoo (Zoopark).
Aside from paid parking lots outside the zoo and by the yacht harbor, most parking around the Sea Garden is informal street parking.
How to get there
The Varna Sea Garden covers much of the city’s coastline, running from Varna Beach up past Wake Park Varna. To reach the park’s main entrance on foot from the city center takes around 15 minutes, while walking its length should take about an hour. Bus routes 7 and 39 run east along the park’s edge, while the 9 and 109 buses go west.
When to get there
As it’s a public park, the Sea Garden is open around the clock. For visitors taking a stroll, the late afternoon and early evening usually offer a lovely atmosphere, while people coming for a specific attraction, such as the zoo or amusement park, should check the individual operating hours.
Varna beaches by the Sea Garden
Many beaches can be found along the length of the Sea Garden, not only the ever-popular Varna Beach. Rappongi Beach and Officer’s Beach are two nice alternatives, both of which are likely to be less crowded than Varna Beach, while the Third Buna and Fourth Buna offer small slivers of sand even farther from the city center.
