Seminyak Village
Jl. Kayu Jati No.8, Seminyak, Indonesia, 80361
A compact but perfectly formed mall with a striking wavy frontage, Seminyak Village pairs western brands with local talent for a shopping experience that’s sleek and seamless but can feel artisanal too—right in the heart of Seminyak. Don’t confuse it with neighboring Seminyak Square, which is generally a lower rent experience.
The basics
Modern, airy, and spacious with plenty of glass and steel, Seminyak Village is a premium shopping experience that focuses on fashion, although you’ll find plenty of homewares, too. You can shop brands including H&M, Birkenstock, and Steve Madden, plus local fast-fashion favorite Bamboo Blonde and an array of products from homegrown designers. Independent stalls scattered around the foyer create a marketplace feel, while the rooftop spa adds a dash of luxe.
Things to know before you go
Seminyak Village is a good choice for fashion lovers, souvenir hunters, and anyone looking to update their vacation wardrobe.
By the standards of the big Kuta and Denpasar malls, Seminyak Village is compact: You can whizz through to get a sense of it in 20 minutes or so, or spend 2–3 hours shopping.
There are a range of food options in the mall, many of the sweet treat variety, and plenty more choices on the street outside. You won’t go hungry.
Sizing for local brands can vary widely: Some brands are cut for Indonesian women, who tend to be petite, others for European or Australian women, who are both taller and broader on average. A “small” could be a US size 6 or a US size 0, so it’s a good idea to ask the shop assistant what size they think you should take; plus-size shoppers will likely be out of luck here.
This is a modern mall, with elevators from the parking lot to every floor. Travelers with wheelchairs and strollers should manage fine.
How to get there
Seminyak Village sits in the heart of Seminyak, just off Oberoi Street (Jalan Kayu Aya). Bali’s bus network doesn’t operate here, so your best options are to take a rideshare, a taxi (the Bluebird group can be relied on to use the meter), or book a private driver.
When to get there
Seminyak Village is open from morning to late evening every day of the week. It is usually busiest in the middle of the day when travelers seek shelter from heat and humidity with a dose of retail therapy.
Where to shop homegrown fashion in Seminyak
Indonesia has a longstanding garment and leather industry and a surprising number of brands manufacture in Bali. Seminyak is a great place to explore them. Biasa Flagship serves up cunningly structured linens; Magali Pascal is a French designer who majors in cute boho dresses; By the Sea offers creative resortwear. Don’t miss Bali Boat Shed: an Insta-perfect beach hut frontage hides a world-class selection of tropical shirts.
