Silver Queen Gondola

During the winter months, you can watch skiers and snowboarders zip down below you as you ascend the snow-covered mountain. Once at the summit, join a snowshoe nature tour or get cozy inside the Sundeck slopeside restaurant. Ride in the summertime to take picnicking to a whole new level or enjoy mountaintop hiking, music, lawn games, disc golf, and an alfresco meal at Sundeck.

• The ride to the top takes around 18 minutes.
• There is no minimum age, and kids under 3 ride for free.
• If traveling with kids, look for family-friendly activities like a giant chess game, sand box, climbing structures, and a corn hole.
• If you’re up for the challenge of a strenuous hike up the mountain along the Ute Trail, the gondola ride down is free.
• Be sure to check the gondola’s daily operating schedule so you don't miss the last ride down.

The Silver Queen Gondola is located in Aspen Snowmass village—a 15-minute drive from the city of Aspen or about 3.5 hours from Denver International Airport. Pay to park at the base village parking garage, or park for free at Town Park Station and catch a shuttle to the base. Purchase tickets and catch the gondola at the base of Aspen Mountain on Dean Street.

The gondola is open for a large part of the year, with shoulder season closures from mid-April to late May and October until late November. Check the Aspen Snowmass website to confirm operating hours and look for special events like Bluegrass Sundays, Classical Music Saturdays, and alpine yoga classes.

Before or after a ride on the Silver Queen Gondola, take time to stroll around this newly renovated village, which reopened in late 2018.
