POINT OF INTEREST

Soda Rock Winery

8015 California 128, Healdsburg, California

Located north of Healdsburg in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley, Soda Rock Winery offers a bucolic setting and award-winning wines. The family-owned and operated winery is where the historic general store and post office once created the community's buzzing center. Lovingly restored, it is once again a community center where Alexander Valley's famous Bordeaux varietals are savored and enjoyed.

Along with exquisitely produced wines, the beautiful environs of Soda Creek Winery make a visit a premiere experience. The property is historic, spacious, and rustic, with panoramic vistas of the surrounding vineyards and vistas. Enjoy Soda Creek's signature cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec, petit verdot, cabernet franc, and meritage blends, among other red, white, and rose options, and learn about the history of the property at Soda Rock Winery's onsite barn tasting experience.

  • Tastings run about 75 minutes long and occur throughout the day in the barn on the hour and half-hour.

  • Tastings are limited to just six people, so online reservations are recommended.

  • The downtown Healdsburg tasting room also offers tastings on a similar schedule.

  • Soda Rock Winery offers a wine club with no membership fee that offers substantial benefits, including complimentary tastings, discounts, and event invitations.

  • No food is served onsite, but picnics or other foods can be enjoyed on the outdoor patio.

Located in the Alexander Valley at 8015 CA-128, Soda Rock Winery is about a 15-minute drive from downtown Healdsburg. You'll head north on Healdsburg Avenue until Alexander Valley Road (CA 128). Take a right turn to head east towards the valley center—from here, you are just 5 miles (8 miles) from your destination. The winery will be on your right.

Soda Rock Winery is open daily from 11am to 5pm, as is its downtown tasting room in nearby downtown Healdsburg. Check out social media or the events page on the Soda Rock Winery website to find a wide assortment of events happening throughout the year, including a summer music concert series, food-focused celebrations, and Lord Snort's birthday, held late in October, honoring the winery's running boar mascot.

A 20-foot (6-meter) tall running boar, fabricated in steel, greets visitors in the Soda Rock Winery parking lot. The sculpture, which debuted at the 2013 Burning Man Festival, is considered the official mascot of the winery and is known as "Lord Snort." In honor of his late October birthday, the winery releases the new vintages of the Boar’dEaux Series of wines. Local artist Bryan Tedrick created the sculpture.
