Sphere
255 Sands Ave., Las Vegas, NV, 89169
One of Las Vegas’ hottest attractions, the Sphere is a music and entertainment arena that immerses audiences in high-tech video and audio, literally wrapping up, over, and around them with an innovative dome design. Its multisensory 4D capabilities also allow guests to “feel” the experiences, such as the rumble of thunder or the gust of a cool breeze. The Sphere’s exterior—covered in LED displays—is equally impressive.
The basics
Opened just off the Las Vegas Strip in 2023, this spherical music and entertainment arena hosts various artist residencies and shows throughout the year—including its inaugural performer, U2. During the ongoing Sphere Experience, visitors meet Aura, a humanoid robot that explains the venue’s cutting-edge tech. Venue information also highlights the immersive experience, which includes a film by director Darren Aronofsky, Postcard From Earth, taking viewers on a journey from Antarctica to 15 global locations and into space.
Even if you don’t get Sphere tickets to an event or experience, you can still easily spot its 580,000-square-foot (54,000-square-meter) LED exterior, called the Exosphere—it can be seen from space, so you can certainly view it from various places in Vegas. Original content always runs on the Exosphere, which rises above the Strip like a giant flashy bubble for all to see.
Things to know before you go
Accessible seating is available. The Sphere also offers seating with movable armrests and larger chairs without armrests.
Keep in mind that some events may include elements such as seat haptics, movement sensations, flashing lights, intense lighting, visual effects, loud noises, and atmospheric simulations that may aggravate certain medical or physical conditions.
Large bags and backpacks are not permitted inside the venue. Small clutches, purses, and fanny packs, as well as diaper bags and bags required for medical items, are allowed.
You’ll find accessible water fountains throughout the venue.
How to get there
To visit, take the Las Vegas Monorail—which runs from the Sahara to the MGM Grand—to the Harrah’s/LINQ station; from there, it’s a short walk to the arena. On-site parking is available in case you drive, and cabs and rideshare services are readily available throughout Vegas.
When to get there
The Sphere Experience film, Postcard From Earth, runs Sundays–Tuesdays and Thursdays, with several showtimes throughout the day. Visit the website to check the events calendar and learn more about upcoming concerts and when doors open for individual performances. Expect shows at the Sphere—especially ones with big-name artists—to sell out quickly.
What’s on the outside of the Sphere?
In addition to the entertainment taking place inside the Sphere, Vegas visitors can catch a show of sorts just by viewing the venue’s Exosphere. Generative artificial intelligence artist Refik Anadol was the first artist to “paint” on the massive LED paneling. Called Machine Hallucinations: Sphere, the digital experience was designed to take advantage of the structure’s unique architecture and used images from the Hubble Space Telescope and the International Space Station, as well as photos of flora and fauna, to create trippy visuals.
