How to Get There
If you’re taking public transport, take the MTR to Hong Kong Station (exit A2) or Central Station (exit A) to reach Central Pier 7; Wan Chai Station (exit A1) to reach the Wan Chai Ferry Pier; or Tsim Sha Tsui Station (exit L6) to reach the Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier. From here, you can walk to the pier along Man Yiu Street. Many first-time visitors opt to skip the hassle of public transport on a tour that transports you between attractions in air-conditioned comfort.
When to Get There
From the Star Ferry Pier in Central, boats depart from 12pm until 8pm, when the last ferry makes a round-trip. If you’re on a budget, note that tickets for a daytime ferry ride are almost half the price of an evening ride.
A Symphony of Lights
Every evening at 8pm, Victoria Harbour experiences A Symphony of Lights. The spectacle, which has occurred every night since 2004, features searchlights, lasers, and LED screens and can be enjoyed from either the HK Island or Kowloon side of the harbor. If you want to take the Star Ferry during the show, ensure you book in advance as tickets sell out fast.
