Sunway Lagoon
No. 3 Jalan PJS 11/11, Bandar Sunway, Subang Jaya, Selangor, 47500
The sprawling 88-acre (36-hectare) Sunway Lagoon ranks among Southeast Asia’s biggest theme parks and boasts rides, water slides, a man-made beach, a wildlife park, and Malaysia’s first surf simulator. It’s one of Kuala Lumpur’s top family attractions, offering activities that will suit kids of all ages.
The Basics
Sunway Lagoon is located in the large Sunway City development and is divided into six different adventure zones: the Water Park, Amusement Park, Wildlife Park, Extreme Park, Scream Park, and Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon. Admission tickets grant access to all of these areas, including most of the rides, activities, and attractions. A few experiences—including the Bungy Jump, G-Force X, Go Karting, and Scuba Diving—require an additional ticket.
You can maximize your time in the park by purchasing a Quack Xpress pass, which gives you access to dedicated express lanes at the most popular rides and attractions. For a convenient day at the park, opt for a tour package that includes roundtrip transportation and lunch.
Things to Know Before You Go
Bring a change of clothes, a towel, and sunscreen, as well as a rain poncho—the area often sees sudden downpours.
Admission is free for children under 35 inches (90 cm).
The park accepts cash and all major credit cards.
Park amenities include free Wi-Fi, lockers, and wheelchair rentals.
How to Get There
The Sunway Lagoon theme park is located in the Sunway City complex, in Petaling Jaya, about 10 miles (15 kilometers) southwest of Kuala Lumpur's city center. Visitors can take the train to the Subang Jaya station, then catch a bus to the Sunway Pyramid stop. There is a free shuttle service that takes visitors around the larger Sunway City complex.
When to Get There
Sunway Lagoon is open daily throughout the year. While rain is common in every season, May–July and December–February tend to be the driest periods. Plan your visit on a weekday to enjoy the shortest queues for rides and water slides.
Kuala Lumpur for Families
Sunway Lagoon is one of many kid-approved attractions in Kuala Lumpur. Aquaria KLCC showcases a variety of marine and freshwater species in an air conditioned facility inside the convention center, while the Petrosains Discovery Centre in the Petronas Twin Towers features interactive science-focused exhibits covering everything from fossils to petroleum science. KidZania caters to a younger crowd with its child-sized city, and Skytrex Adventure’s zip lines and canopy tour are appropriate for thrill-seeking teenagers.
