The frozen-in-time interiors include a coal-fired stove, functioning gaslights, and Miss Agnes’ personal effects including clothes, photographs, letters, and recipes.
The basics
The Tenement House is designed to be explored independently. Travelers can make their way through the flat at their own pace, examining the many everyday items displayed inside, from medicines to cleaning products to household bills. Staff are situated throughout the house and are on hand to answer any questions visitors may have about the items on show. The Tenement House is accessible via hop-on hop-off bus tours of Glasgow.

The Tenement House is situated on Buccleuch Street in Garnethill, and is a 10-minute walk from Charing Cross train station and Cowcaddens subway station. Walking from Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow’s main shopping street, takes about 10 minutes.

The Tenement House welcomes most visitors between March and October. Weekends are busier, so come midweek to avoid crowds. The Tenement House usually closes between Christmas and New Year’s.
