The Big Banana Fun Park

351 Pacific Hwy, Coffs Harbour, Australia, 2450

Travelers with kids in tow won’t want to miss a stop at the Big Banana Fun Park. In New South Wales’ coastal resort town of Coffs Harbour, this amusement park has enough attractions to keep everyone happy. Its giant walk-through banana is one of Australia’s first “big things” (giant novelty structures).

The basics

The Big Banana Fun Park also claims to have the country's biggest indoor slide and the biggest water park between Sydney and the Gold Coast. Kids can enjoy the dedicated Aqua Play area, and visitors of all ages can enjoy the water slides, a toboggan ride overlooking the Pacific Ocean, a 36-hole mini-golf course, a laser tag arena, bumper cars, duckpin bowling, ice skating, escape rooms, and a 4D ride simulator.

Those looking for something less active can head for the gaming machines, grab a meal at one of the park’s eateries, or take a self-guided walking tour of the banana plantation.

Things to know before you go

  • Visitors planning to enjoy multiple attractions can buy a 1-day unlimited pass.

  • Most of the fun park, including the ice rink, is accessible to people in wheelchairs.

  • The park’s gift shop claims to be the world’s largest banana-themed gift store.

How to get there

The park is located just north of Coffs Harbour’s city center and has plenty of on-site parking. If you don’t have your own wheels, you can take a bus from Sydney or Brisbane and then a local bus or taxi to the park. The closest airport is Coffs Harbour Regional Airport, a 10-minute drive from the park.

When to get there

The Big Banana Fun Park is open every day, year-round, except for Christmas Day. The park opens from the morning until early evening, but each attraction and ride has its own opening hours: Check the timetable on the park’s website. Opening hours are extended during the NSW school holidays, but that's also when you’ll encounter the biggest crowds.

Reptile World

Visitors can get up close and personal with various reptile species at the park’s Reptile World. Founded by local reptile expert Steve McEwan, Reptile World is home to some of Australia’s best-known venomous snakes, pythons, lizards, and turtles, as well as a saltwater crocodile named Snappy. Informational exhibits teach visitors about each species. Visiting Reptile World incurs an additional fee.
