POINT OF INTEREST

Trump Winery

3550 Blenheim Road, Charlottesville, Virginia

Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Trump Winery is a luxurious wine country estate in the heart of the Monticello Wine Trail. Visit the tasting room to sample award-winning wines, enjoy seasonal fare from the kitchen, and shop for wine, apparel, and gifts. Next door, the Albemarle Estate is a luxury hotel in the style of an English country manor.

Trump Winery is just south of Monticello, the historic home of Thomas Jefferson, and James Monroe’s Ash Lawn-Highland—stop by for wine tasting after you visit one of these national historic landmarks. The tasting room is open six days a week and welcomes groups of eight or fewer people on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests can enjoy wine flights without reservations, picnic on the lawn, or reserve in-depth wine tastings.

  • Wine flights don't typically require reservations, but Saturday reserve tastings do.

  • Bring your dog—but keep the 4-legged friend outside on a leash or in a carrier and under the control of an adult at all times.

  • Visiting with groups of 20 or more people requires custom arrangements.

  • Children are welcome at the Tasting Room at Grand Hall.

  • Outside food is not permitted.

The winery is about 11 miles (18 kilometers) south of Charlottesville and seven miles (11 kilometers) south of Monticello along State Route 53, the James Monroe Parkway, and Grant Cru Drive. From Charlottesville, public transportation will get you only as far as Lakeside—your best bet for getting around is driving.

The tasting room is open for no-reservation flights from 11am to 5pm from Wednesday to Monday and closes on Tuesdays, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. Reserve tastings with six pours of wine are offered on select Saturday afternoons at 1:30pm.

Trump Winery is just one part of the Monticello Wine Trail, a collection of 30-plus wineries near Charlottesville and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Each of the wineries on the trail takes inspiration from Thomas Jefferson’s vision of rivaling the Old World grape growers and winemakers of Europe.
