Tucker’s Town
St. George’s Parish
Known as Bermuda’s “Billionaire’s Row,” Tucker’s Town is where those who have it all choose to live. Surrounded on both sides by the ocean, this narrow strip of land is in Bermuda’s eastern St. George’s Parish and is home to an exclusive residential enclave, luxury hotels, and two prestigious private golf courses.
Basics
Tucker’s Town faces the southwestern side of Castle Harbour, with Tucker’s Point Golf Course and the Mid Ocean Club taking up the lion’s share of the land. The fancy Rosewood Bermuda sits on the Castle Harbour shoreline near Tucker’s Point, while another luxury hotel—The Loren—lies just south of the Mid Ocean Club.
Tucker’s Town Road stretches out along the peninsula up to Frick’s Point, where the biggest and fanciest homes are. They’re largely off-limits to the public though, although you can pass by the public dock to gaze at the mansions, or visit the two smallish public beaches (without amenities): Frick’s Point and Windsor Beach. While there aren’t many tours that visit Tucker’s Town, cruises or snorkel tours occasionally pass by Castle Island and Nonsuch Island.
Things to know before you go
If you want to play golf at Tucker’s Point or the Mid Ocean Club, you need to be referred by a member and make an appointment before you turn up. Dining options at the Rosewood Bermuda and The Loren are limited to hotel guests, members, and select island residents. However, you can book the oceanfront Loren’s Pink Beach Club. There are no public restrooms or general amenities in the Tucker’s Town neighborhood.
When to get there
- High summer, between May and September, is the best time for pool lounging and swimming in Bermuda. Hotels are busier and more expensive at this time—although if you want to stay near Tucker’s Town, you’re probably not on a shoestring budget. The neighborhood might have a bit more bustle in the fall (October or November) when the Rosewood Cup golf tournament takes place at Tucker’s Point Golf Course.
How to get there
Tucker’s Town is easily reached by microcar or scooter—just note that non-residents can’t enter the exclusive gated residential neighborhood. Visitors without transport should take a ferry or bus to the Town of St. George, then a taxi from the rank at King’s Square.
How to glimpse Castle Harbour Islands Nature Reserve
This small chain of islands appears to be scattered in the sea from the tip of Frick’s Point, Tucker’s Town. While you aren’t usually allowed to land on any of them, private charters may let you take a peek as you cruise past. The most interesting one is arguably Nonsuch Island, home to the majority of Bermuda’s rarest and endangered flora and fauna.
