UFO Observation Deck

The basics

The UFO Observation Deck sits atop one of the support pylons of the hanging New Bridge, which was constructed in the 1970s. On a clear day you’ll be treated to views in all directions, as far as Austria—and the deck is open-air, so there’s no smudged or scratched glass in the way. At 311 feet (95 meters), the observation deck isn’t exceptionally high, but Bratislava is a flat city with few tall buildings, so the views are good. Head up to the observation deck independently, or join a guided walking tour that stops by the landmark along with other attractions like Bratislava Castle.

Things to know before you go

• The observation deck admission fee is waived if you’ll be dining in the restaurant.
• Take a jacket or sweater as there may be a cool wind at the top.
• For nice views of the bridge and observation deck, take a stroll on the pedestrian pathways along the banks of the Danube River.

How to get there

You’ll see the bridge and observation deck from many parts of Bratislava. Right next to the Sad Janka Krala Park, the landmark is a short walk from the Old Town area.

When to get there

The UFO Observation Deck is typically open daily until late at night. Go in the evening to enjoy a drink at the bar while watching the sun set over Bratislava.

Bridge Views from Bratislava Castle

If you have the chance, make your way up the Crown Tower in Bratislava Castle. Panoramic city views (including the New Bridge and UFO deck) await you in the windowed turret at the top of a narrow winding staircase.
