POINT OF INTEREST

Yas Beach

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Fringing the shores of Yas Island, one of Abu Dhabi’s top entertainment destinations, Yas Beach is an idyllic private beach offering a luxurious getaway for the day. When you’re not lazing on the white sands or in the Persian Gulf waters, relax at the beach club with its beckoning pool, restaurants, bar, and other activities.

The basics

Yas Beach centers on a private beach club lining a ribbon of pristine sands and crystal-clear seas. Guests staying at select Yas Island hotels have access to the beach, while other visitors need to purchase day passes. The club offers an infinity pool lined with loungers and cabanas, food and bar-service menus, a kids’ pool, padel courts, and water sports like jet-skiing and kayaking.

Most visitors go to Yas Beach independently, but you can also check out the beach on prebooked Abu Dhabi tours. Some include a brief visit to the sands, while others, such as speedboat excursions to the nearby mangroves, pass by the beach.

Things to know before you go

  • Yas Beach will appeal to sun, surf, and pool lovers, as well as sporty types and families.
  • Day passes include a beach towel, sun lounger, parasol, and access to the pool.
  • Admission is free for children under 12.
  • There are restrooms, showers, lockers, and nearby parking at the club.

How to get there

Yas Beach sits on Yas Island’s southern tip, near Yas Marina Circuit and a number of resort hotels. Frequent Yas Express buses connect the beach to key island locations—look for Y3 buses, which depart from select hotels, Yas Marina, and Yas Marina Circuit. If you’re in central Abu Dhabi, driving or taking a cab are your easiest options; from the corniche, take the E12, cross Saadiyat Island to Yas Island, and follow the signposts.

When to get there

Yas Beach is generally open mid-morning till mid-evening every day, though the hours can vary, so check beforehand. Day passes are purchased at the door—there’s no need to prebook—but it’s best to arrive early as the beach can get busy, especially on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The beach is usually at its quietest in the mornings, with the peak time for visitors around 3pm-6pm.

Lapping up extra luxuries

It’s great to lounge on the sands at Yas Beach, but you can also add on extra experiences and perks. Upgrade to a poolside cabana, reserve a padel court, or hit the ocean on rented kayaks or donuts. It’s also possible to book private chalets with a lounge, TV, shower, and Wi-Fi as a private air-conditioned retreat for the day.
