Campground Overview
Introduction
Spur 406 Campground is generally open year-round and rarely fills up, except possibly on holiday weekends. It may close on occasion due to high water events. A boat launch ramp off the campground may be available depending on lake levels. This campground offers 6 primitive sites, each with a covered picnic table and a BBQ grill. No ground fires are allowed. The sites are suitable for tents or RVs. Vault toilets are available. No drinking water or hookups are available.

Weather
The climate at Amistad is semi-arid in moisture and subtropical in temperature. Humidity is more often high than low, with periodic morning fog. Summers are long, hot, and frequently humid; winters are mild and vary between sunny, warm, cloudy, and cool weather. From Amistad National Recreation Area's Visitor Center- Head west (left right out of parking lot) on US Highway 90 and travel 13.2 miles. Take a sharp right onto Spur 406 and go about 2 miles. GPS Coordinates 29.479108, -101.028682 or Lat-Long: 29° 33' 1.9872" N 101° 1' 13.5732" W

Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis; there are no reservations. Fee is payable within 30 minutes of occupying a campsite. This can be paid at a centrally located self-pay fee station, which accepts credit or debit cards only. Checkout time is 11am.

Site capacity is not to exceed eight persons and one recreational vehicle camping unit (three vehicles total). Vehicles must be parked in designated parking areas only and may not be driven off-road. Visitors can stay in a campground up to 14 consecutive nights with a limit of 60 nights in the park in a calendar year. Quiet hours are 10pm to 6am. Check out time is 11am.
