Mexican chef-partner Enrique Olvera knocked the ball out of the park with Pujol, his Mexico City eatery, which garnered universal accolades in the 2010s. His first American restaurant brought that fame to New York with a great reception, into a minimalist and contemporary space in the Flatiron District. Robust flavors come to the palette from what at first seem like familiar ingredients: duck carnitas, maiz, lobster, scallops, sliced raw fish paired with delicious house-made tortillas. These provide the foundation for some very nicely presented small plates which are appropriate for sharing. Creative cocktails and a well curated wine list round out a most pleasing meal here.
