Overview
This guided walking tour examines Munich’s crucial role in the rise and development of National Socialism. Long before Berlin became the political center of the regime, Munich served as its ideological and organizational birthplace. Here, early supporters gathered, propaganda took shape, and the foundations of dictatorship were laid. We explore how National Socialist rule affected everyday life, from political repression and antisemitic persecution to the realities faced by ordinary citizens and Jewish residents. We also highlight acts of resistance, including the story of the White Rose, and discuss how postwar Germany has worked to confront and remember this past. We will uncover the hidden layers of fear, conformity, and control that once defined public life. This experience offers insight into the dangers of extremism and the importance of historical responsibility, memory, and civic courage. This educational tour does not promote or glorify National Socialist ideology.
