About MerrittMerritt is known for its many lakes. Of particular interest is Nicola Lake, a large warm-water lake 10 kilometres (6 mi.) north of town. For a view of the landmarks, including a giant Canadian flag, hike to the Merritt Lookout from Juniper Drive. Recreational activities in the area include swimming, fishing, sailing, water skiing and windsurfing. Monck Provincial Park, on the west side of the lake, offers camping and picnic facilities.
