AAA Editor Notes
Arizona Capitol Museum is in the Arizona Capitol building at 1700 W. Washington St. The Capitol is built of tuff stone from Kirkland Junction and granite from the Salt River Mountains. Opened in 1901, the four-story building served as the territorial capitol until statehood came in 1912; it then became the state capitol.

The museum, located in the center of the Capitol Complex, is designed to connect Arizonans to their state government and reveals how Arizona was established as a territory, how it transitioned to a state and how the people continue to shape their government after more than 100 years of statehood.

Guided tours are available.
