Cabot House, 117 Cabot St., is a Beverly Historical Society and Museum historic site. It was built in 1781 for John Cabot, a merchant and Revolutionary War privateer. The brick mansion was home to the Cabot family, said to be the wealthiest in New England in 1780, and later housed a bank. Three floors of exhibits, including a period room, detail the history of the town, the Beverly Bank and the American Revolution. A research library is available.
