Delicate Arch

Delicate Arch is 15 mi. n.e. from the Arches National Park entrance. Set amid cliffs and slickrock domes, the freestanding arch, with an opening of nearly 45 feet, can be seen from a distant viewpoint 1 mile to the southeast. The viewpoint is accessible by a short hike from the Delicate Arch Viewpoint parking area. To reach the arch visitors must hike a strenuous 3-mile round-trip trail that starts at the Wolfe Ranch parking area. During the morning the arch is silhouetted against the sun; afternoon is the best time to take close-up pictures, but it is also the hottest part of the day and tends to be the most crowded.
