DESTINATION

Daphne

Owing to a prime location on the Eastern Shore, Daphne is sometimes called “Jubilee City.” The name refers to the harvesting and celebrating in which the residents indulge when a natural convergence of summer tidal and weather conditions forces multitudes of fish and crustaceans into shallow shoreline waters, where they easily become the catch-of-the-day. The city also is home to the United States Sports Academy, 1 mile east on US 98, an undergraduate and graduate school devoted to sports education.

Bayfront Park, on Bayfront Drive, and May Day Park, on the west side of College Street, are pleasant places to picnic and enjoy views of the water. A boat launch is available at May Day Park.
