Shelby

Ranching, farming and the railroad supported the town until the 1922 discovery of oil in the Kevin-Sunburst fields. The area retains a few working oil pumps. Shelby's location on major transportation corridors established its right as an inland port for truck and rail shipping via the Northwest Express Transportation Authority.
