Delft Vermeer Centre (Vermeer Centrum)

The basics

Spread out over three floors, the Vermeer Centre takes visitors back to 17th-century Delft with exhibits about the city and Vermeer’s works and process. The museum also hosts special exhibits, generally with a Vermeer-related theme. The center is a popular stop on Delft walking tours, and day trips from Amsterdam sometimes stop at the museum.

How to get there

The Delft Vermeer Centre is located in the heart of Delft, about a 12-minute walk from the central railway station and a 7-minute walk from the Prisenhof tram stop on line 1. If you're coming by car, you'll find plenty of paid parking garages within a 5- to 10-minute walk of the museum.

When to get there

The Delft Vermeer Centre is open daily throughout the year, except on certain public holidays. Weekdays generally get the fewest crowds, particularly first thing in the morning, while Saturdays and Sundays can be busy, particularly in the early to midafternoon. Free volunteer-led tours in English take place every Sunday morning.

Royal Delft (Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles)

Art lovers in Delft won't want to miss a visit to Royal Delft (Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles), where the city's famous blue-and-white pottery is created, displayed, and sold. Tours take you into the factory to see artisans at work and into the factory's museum, where you can see beautiful and unusual creations.
