Hall of Memory
Birmingham, West Midlands
In the heart of Centenary Square, the Hall of Memory is a stately war memorial devoted to the thousands of Birmingham residents who died in World War I. This Portland stone structure is notable for its art deco architecture and features four bronze statues by celebrated artist Albert Toft.
The basics
As an important landmark and architectural sight, the Hall of Memory is highlighted on many Birmingham tours, and virtually any tour that includes a stop at Centenary Square will at least give you the chance to take a look at the building; on some days, you may have the opportunity to go inside. Some self-guided tours—including gamified experiences focused on Birmingham’s alleged hauntings—also stop at the memorial.
