Nomad Museo Inmersivo
Gran Vía 78, Madrid, Spain, 28013
An immersive museum, bringing digital art not just onto screens but onto the floor, the walls, and even visitors, Nomad Museo Inmersivo transforms art from around the world into interactive installations featuring sound and movement. Past exhibitions have delved into the images of Van Gogh, Hieronymus Bosch, Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock art, and psychedelic AI creations.
The basics
There are two ticket classes for Nomad Museo Inmersivo. Standard tickets commit you to arriving at a specific time on the day you choose (though you can stay as long as you like, while the exhibition is open); with VIP tickets, you can show up spontaneously on any day at all. Most travelers buy tickets online, then explore the exhibits independently, lounging on cushions as animated artworks play over them or engaging with interactive screens.
Things to know before you go
Nomad Museo Inmersivo is a good choice for families and art lovers.
You can shoot as many pictures and as much video as you like, but the museum requests you don’t use flash.
The museum is wheelchair friendly, with plenty of room to maneuver.
How to get there
Nomad Museo Inmersivo is right by Plaza de España on Gran Via boulevard, about a 1.5-mile (2.5-kilometer) drive to the north of Plaza Mayor. The best metro station is Plaza de España (line 3), but Santo Domingo (line 2) is less than a 5-minute walk away.
When to get there
The museum is open daily from morning to night. Standard class tickets cost more on weekends and public holidays, so travelers with a flexible schedule should visit midweek, when the museum is also less crowded.
On the digital art trail in Madrid
Many travelers associate art in the Spanish capital with the grandeur of the Golden Triangle, but you can also discover digital art around the city. The Light Art Museum (Museo de la Luz) showcases interactive sculptures, projections, and installations crafted from light, while MAD (Madrid Artes Digitales) showcases world-touring immersive exhibitions on topics from the Titanic to Tutankhamun. If you’re visiting Madrid in May, you can catch the MMMAD digital art festival as well.
