This is the Place Heritage Park

The park resurrects Utah’s past with costumed docents offering live demonstrations of what life was like in the valley for earlier generations. Join a cowboy-clad guide and try milking a cow, visit the Native American Village to see dancers and homemade crafts, or watch woodworkers recreate historic necessities. Several tours of Salt Lake City include visits to the Heritage Village alongside Temple Square and the Utah State Capitol building.

This is the Place Heritage Park is 5 miles (8 kilometers) east of downtown Salt Lake City. Reach the park by car, the UTA bus service, or on a tour from Salt Lake City. It is popular to pair a trip to the park with the nearby Hogle Zoo.

The Heritage Village and Visitor Center is open every day (excluding Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day) from midmorning to early evening. Hours and access may vary in the winter. Special events are held throughout the year, including December’s free Christkindlmarkt holiday festivities and the springtime Baby Animal Celebration.

Guided trail rides and horseback riding lessons are offered at the historic park for beginner to advanced riders. Travel year-round along trails that follow the paths early pioneers once rode more than 100 years ago. Visit in the winter to traverse snowy trails and see Salt Lake City blanketed in white. Riders as young as 8 are welcome on trail rides with an accompanying adult.
