What to Do in Washington

Settled in 1839, Washington is the self-proclaimed “Corncob Pipe Capital of the World”; the nation's only corncob pipe factory is located here. Restored buildings along the riverfront and downtown house restaurants, specialty shops and bed and breakfast inns. James W. Rennick Riverfront Park, at Lafayette and Front streets, is a nice spot to relax and take in views of the Missouri River. Washington is also at the center of a wine-producing area, with some two dozen wineries within an hour's drive.
