AAA Editor Notes
Chuckanut Drive is 3 mi. s. on I-5 to exit 250, then 1 mi. w. on SR 11. This scenic highway is 21 miles long and winds for 8 miles along the rocky shore of Samish Bay at the cliffside of 1,900-foot Chuckanut Mountain. Originally a dirt logging road that opened in 1896, it became the original route of the Pacific Highway, the primary north-south highway in western Washington. Magnificent views extend out across the bay to the San Juan Islands. In places a dense forest canopy arches over the roadway; maples and alders blaze with color in the fall.

Food is available.
