Orangeville

The town hall, built about 1875, has been restored to its original status as an Opera House. At 87 Broadway Ave., it presents a variety of cultural events and is home to Theatre Orangeville, offering productions year-round; phone (519) 942-3423 or (800) 424-1295.

Orangeville is at the center of Headwaters Country, which includes the scenic areas of Hockley Valley, Dufferin County, the towns of Mono, Shelburne and Erin, as well as the Caledon Hills.

Island Lake Conservation Area, just east of Hwy. 10 at 673067 Hurontario St., offers opportunities for canoeing, kayaking and windsurfing as well as summer and winter fishing, hiking and cross-country skiing. The Bruce Trail along with the Caledon Trail portion of the Trans Canada Trail provide abundant hiking opportunities. Other recreational activities in the area include boating, bicycling and horseback riding as well as snowmobiling and downhill skiing. Every Saturday, a farmers market is held in downtown Orangeville mid-May to mid-October. Special events are held throughout the year.
