Twin Falls
From Bliss, the 67.8-mile Thousand Springs Scenic Byway runs southeast, following US 30 through Hagerman, Buhl and Twin Falls, and SR 50 north to the junction of I-84; a spur road (US 93) juts due north from Twin Falls to I-84. Cascading from the sides of Snake River Canyon, the lovely natural springs are fed by the Snake River Plain Aquifer, one of the world's largest groundwater systems. The scenic byway affords access to the five units of Thousand Springs State Park as well as three hot mineral pools: Banbury Hot Springs, 10 miles west of Buhl, Miracle Hot Springs, 9 miles south of Hagerman, and Thousand Springs Resort, 5 miles south of Hagerman.
Just northeast of Twin Falls, the white waters of the Snake River plunge more than 212 feet at Shoshone Falls, known as the “Niagara of the West.” The best time to view the falls is late April through early June, since irrigation waters are retained upstream during the summer months.
