Beloit

The college is the site of more than two dozen Native American effigy mounds built between A.D. 700 and A.D. 1200. The Wright Museum of Art, 700 College St. on the Beloit College campus, exhibits Asian art, Greek plaster casts, ancient art and religious icons; phone (608) 363-2702 or (608) 363-2677 for recorded information.

The Rock River offers boating and fishing opportunities. The riverfront is the site of festivals as well as biking and walking paths and a lagoon with paddleboats.

Just west of Beloit is Beckman Mill, a restored, operating 1868 gristmill within the 52-acre Beckman Mill County Park. The site also features a rebuilt dam with a creamery, mill pond, picnic area and a one-of-a-kind fish ladder; phone (608) 751-1551 or (608) 362-2825.
