POINT OF INTEREST

Samuel Adams Boston Brewery

30 Germania St., Boston, Massachusetts

The Samuel Adams Boston Brewery is where the popular company’s beers are invented. Visit the small-batch brewery and tap room to try a variety of ales, lagers, and seasonal brews and to learn about the company’s history and its brewing process.

Samuel Adams Boston Brewery offers a range of guided tours: The classic, standard tour includes a look at the production process, an opportunity to taste and handle ingredients like roasted malts and hops, beer tastings, and a souvenir tasting glass. Dedicated beer enthusiasts can join specialty tours, like one focused on the history of brewing or another dedicated to pairing barrel-aged beer with cheese. You can also enjoy beer and food at the tap room or purchase merchandise at the gift shop.

If you want to try a variety of local beers, visit Samuel Adams brewery as part of a Boston beer tour or a chauffeured pub crawl.

  • Wheelchair users are advised to check accessibility directly with the brewery.

  • The classic tour and tasting is free, but visitors are encouraged to make a small donation to charity.

  • On-site amenities include restrooms and free Wi-Fi.

The brewery is located in Boston’s vibrant Jamaica Plain neighborhood. You can reach the brewery by cab or take Boston’s “T” subway system: Take an Orange Line train to Stony Brook station, which is about a 5-minute walk away. Driving isn’t recommended, even if you’re not planning to imbibe; the brewery only has a small parking lot, and street parking is very limited.

The brewery is open all year round except for on major public holidays. The tap room is open from late morning through the evening, which shortened hours on Sundays; tours run Monday–Saturday from mid-morning until late afternoon. The brewery is popular, especially in the summer, so you may need to wait for a tour.

Once you’re finished enjoying the offerings at the Samuel Adams Brewery, head west into the hipster-friendly heart of Jamaica Plain. The area’s main artery, Centre Street, is an easy 15-minute walk away and is dotted with restaurants and stores. Browse the quirky shops, and refuel at one of the tapas bars, bistros, and vegan cafes. You can also relax at Jamaica Pond, a leafy park with a large pond, waterside paths, and rowboats to rent.
