Elkhart
The town, now a prominent center of diversified manufacturing, produces more than 50 percent of the nation's band instruments and is a major supplier of automotive parts, assemblies and technologies. Other products include pharmaceuticals, plastics machinery, mechanical rubber, firefighting equipment and recreational vehicles. In June, more than 100 artists perform jazz music ranging from smooth to swing in the Elkhart Jazz Festival .

Self-guiding Tours
Materials for audio driving tours and bicycling and hiking routes are available at the visitor center.The visitor center also is the starting point for Quilt Gardens Along the Heritage Trail , offered in late May through October 1. Twenty quilt-inspired gardens and 21 hand-painted quilt murals can be seen on the free tour, which follows the Heritage Trail through seven Amish communities.
