The little schoolhouse in which Stewart began her teaching career stands next to the public library on First Street in tribute to the dynamic impact on national and international education that began in this small community.

At the northern end of Daniel Boone National Forest and close to Cave Run Lake, the Morehead area provides many recreational opportunities, including trails for hiking, bicycling and horseback riding, and a sanctuary for Canada geese.
