Pop culture has brought Scranton, which served as the fictional setting of the NBC comedy “The Office,” a lot of attention in recent years. Though not filmed here, the show's characters often discussed local restaurants, attractions and the mining history. The sitcom's opening credits showed some of the city's landmarks.

Lots of recreational opportunities can be found at Lackawanna State Park, McDade Park and Merli-Sarnoski Park.
