DESTINATION

Hollywood

The heart of the city’s beachfront is the Broadwalk, a charming palm tree-fringed brick promenade that runs for 2.5 miles along the sandy shore. There’s plenty of room for couples out for a stroll, joggers, bicyclists and inline skaters. The path also provides ample opportunities for oceanfront dining. Though modern in every respect, the Broadwalk is reminiscent of the nostalgic Florida of an earlier day with its seawall, period street lamps and unparalleled views of the turquoise ocean and its tumbling waves.

Children will enjoy taking a break along the Broadwalk at Charnow Park. This beachfront park comes equipped with a water fountain to splash in, two areas dedicated to playground equipment and several covered picnic areas.

Hollywood prides itself on its cultural amenities. At the core of its redeveloped downtown district is the ArtsPark at Young Circle, a multifaceted space within a 10-acre circular roundabout. A popular gathering place, the park includes an artistic water sculpture near a huge baobab tree, a play area for children with an interactive fountain, a contemporary pavilion with classrooms and art studios, an amphitheater, glassblowing demonstrations, a shady grove, a meadow for tossing Frisbees and a plaza that is a frequent venue for festivals and events. Funtastic Fridays features children's activities Fridays at 5:30; movies are shown at 8 p.m. Food Truck Mondays take place Monday 5:30-10. Phone (954) 921-3500.
