Hattiesburg
Hiking, biking and inline skating can be enjoyed along the Longleaf Trace Trail, accessible via Fourth Street near the USM campus. The 41-mile trail constructed along a former railroad right-of-way stretches from Hattiesburg to Prentiss. A 26-mile path paralleling the main paved trail between the towns of Carson and Epley is used by horseback riders.

Self-guiding Tours
The Freedom Summer Trail self-guiding driving tour highlights 15 Hattiesburg sites related to the Civil Rights Movement and the Freedom Summer of 1964, a campaign aimed at registering African American voters in Mississippi. Contact the convention and visitors bureau to obtain brochures describing the Freedom Summer Trail as well as other driving and walking tours.
