Rhinelander
Within a radius of 12 miles are 232 lakes, 11 trout streams and two rivers offering nearly every type of water sport. More than 1,000 miles of snowmobile trails traverse all of northern Wisconsin, some of which run through Rhinelander. The region also is noted for its scenic hiking, mountain bicycling and cross-country ski trails.
Nicolet College, off CR G at 5364 College Dr., is noted for its architecture, which blends into the surrounding woods. The college's art gallery features exhibits throughout the year, while the Nicolet Live! series offers a mix of entertaining events September through May.
