St Bride

( Worth Seeing )

The Church of St Bride occupies one of the capital's oldest religious sites; during the 6th century St Bridget's Church marked the very first Irish settlement in London. The present church, completed in 1675, is a masterpiece by Christopher Wren though its interior is modern, having been gutted by a bomb in 1940. The crypt holds an interesting small museum tracing the history of the church and its long connection with the Fleet Street newspaper trade.
