Theatre Museum
(
Worth Seeing
)
For the casual visitor, the best thing about this National Museum of the Performing Arts is its free-of-charge foyer, set
in theatrical darkness with a re-creation of a gilded Edwardian theatre box and numerous spectacular contemporary and historical
costumes. The bulk of the collection is devoted to the history of the British theatre and is unlikely to make converts. If
you have a predilection for greasepaint and the boards, however, make the most of the collection by taking a guided tour and
joining in the costume workshop and make-up demonstrations.
