After the demolition of the railway station in 1928 the bare area between Frère Orbanlaan and Rooseveltlaan was made into a park. There is a corner for young skaters, people with books under their arms walk to and from the nearby city library and certainly in the summer there is a pleasant bustle about the place. Jazz bands come to entertain the office workers who relax here on a bench during their lunch break. In the evening there are regular film showings, sometimes also with live music. The Koning Albertpark is the first and last view many people see of Ghent, as the slip road to the E17 is only 500m further on from the park.
