This hotel is the oldest in Europe; under French rule it was called Cour St Georges. It was the home of the crossbow archers' guild, the 'VIP tent' during the festival of the Chambers of Rhetoric (literary/debating societies) in 1439, and in its time has received dozens of prominent figures from the political and artistic worlds. Many patronise the restaurant because of the historic banquets held there, and because of the manageress who set a new Belgian record when she won the national marathon.
