Near the St Pietersstation, between Krijgslaan and Kortrijksesteenweg there is a fragment of the exhibition site of the Ghent World Fair of 1913. This area exhibited the current art nouveau architecture and after World War I rich citizens added their houses here in the same style. This is how the area got its name of 'Millionaires' Quarter'. It provided perfect publicity for many architects, a wonderful advertisement for their offices, and they have left us an interesting architechtural legacy spanning the period between 1900 and 1950. Advocates, doctors, solicitors and other professionals still live here.
