This building on the corner between Hoogpoort, Biezekapelstraat and Nederpolder is a gem of a 14th-century aristocrat's house that takes its name from the family that built it: van der Zickelen. The complex is divided into three buildings: the large Sikkel, small Sikkel and rear Sikkel. The whole of it will certainly fire your imagination, and in addition Biezelkapelstraat is a very romantic little lane. It is one of the most peaceful corners of the city and because nowadays it houses the Academy of Music you can sometimes hear the voice of a would-be opera diva wafting out of the windows.
