Graffiti are absolutely forbidden and have cost the city a small fortune in restoration. Obviously for some the urge to use the spray-can is stronger than the law and, alas, buildings have to be cleaned regularly. Because the graffiti artists should not give expression to their creative urges on historic buildings, and also to show some appreciation of this form of art, the city gave them a street where graffiti are tolerated. The narrow street is known as 'graffiti street'. Anyone who can stand the stench of urine can look into the garden of the Van Ryhovesteen from this street.
