Edinburgh's Festival Centre - The Hub

( Highly Recommended )

More than 50 years after the first Edinburgh Festival and nearly 33 after moving into `temporary' headquarters, in summer 1999 the Festival offices finally moved into a purpose-designed centre in the magnificently-converted Tolbooth at the top of the Royal Mile. The exterior, designed by Augustus Pugin for the Church of Scotland in the 1840s, remains unchanged, while inside you'll find some of Scotland's most exciting and innovative contemporary design. Sculptures, lighting, textiles and tiling make the mundane act of buying a ticket part of the Festival experience. The Hub is open year-round and provides a `taste of the Festival' no matter when you come, with information and tickets on all the city's festivals throughout the year, a hall and library, restaurant, shop and other facilities.
