The Scottish Parliament

( Highly Recommended )

Nearly 300 years after its last session, the Scottish Parliament opened once more in July 1999. Until 2002, when it moves to its new home at Holyrood, Parliament is housed in a clutch of buildings around the Royal Mile. Debating takes place in the Assembly Hall of the Church of Scotland, while the headquarters and committee chambers are lodged a little further down the hill. The committee chamber building also houses the visitor centre, where you can learn all about Scottish devolution and the working of Parliament through displays and interactive systems, with friendly staff on hand to answer questions. There's also a detailed model of the new Parliament Building. If you want to attend a debate, you can book in advance, or take a chance and go to the public entrance in Milne's Court.
